A crane truck mounts a hydraulic crane directly on a truck chassis, letting one vehicle lift, place, and haul material on the same job without a separate crane rental.

What is a crane truck used for?

Crane trucks handle material placement on delivery routes and job sites - unloading pipe, lumber, roofing material, or prefab components directly from the truck bed to where they're needed, without waiting for a separate crane to arrive. They're common with building supply, utility, and construction delivery fleets.

What size crane truck do I need?

Crane capacity is rated in foot-pounds of lift moment, ranging from roughly 20,000 ft-lb on compact models to 100,000+ ft-lb on heavy-duty units. Match the crane's rated capacity and reach to the heaviest typical load at the distance you'll actually be placing it, not just the chassis GVWR.

What should I check before bidding on a used crane truck?

Cycle the crane through its full range of motion and check for smooth movement at every joint, inspect hydraulic cylinders and hoses for leaks, confirm the outriggers extend fully and lock securely, and ask for load chart documentation confirming rated capacity at your working radius. Check the chassis odometer and crane PTO hours separately too, since a crane truck's chassis and crane often wear at different rates.

We offer multiple ways to buy a crane truck: live onsite auctions, online auctions, buy now, or make offer.
