The COVID-19 pandemic has caused disruption and economic uncertainty across the world. And during these unchartered times, Ritchie Bros., like many other companies, has adapted and redoubled our efforts to make sure we're keeping our employees and customers safe, while also protecting their respective livelihoods and continuing to serve our customers' changing business needs.

For over 60 years we've made an unreserved commitment to safety and being there for our customers, and during these challenging times, that precedence has become more important than ever.

We wanted to share with you the many ways we're protecting our customers, employees and the communities we live and work in, against the threat of COVID-19

All Auctions Are Now Online Bidding Only

At Ritchie Bros. we've pivoted with minimal disruption to an online only auction environment in order to keep giving buyers and sellers opportunities to get the equipment they need, while staying safe. Even as other auction companies postponed events, we honored our commitments to customers and delivered great results. Here's what you need to know about our online auctions:

  • It's free to register and bid online – there are no fees for this service. Successful buyers – regardless of whether bidding onsite or online - will be required to pay a buyer transaction fee.
  • We've dropped transaction fees for successful online buyers participating in on-the-farm auctions only
  • You can bid online from your home or office via your desktop computer, or use our mobile app
  • You can place online PriorityBids before the auction begins and let our system bid for you
  • Bid on attachments, consumer goods and other smaller items sold in online Timed Auctions, with no auctioneer

Equipment Inspection and Pick Up/Loadout Info

We understand there's nothing like kicking the tires and turning the ignition when considering a major equipment purchase. While all auctions sites are currently open for pre-auction inspection, we are limiting attendance in accordance with local regulations. Please review site hours on the auction event page or contact the site for the most up to date information.

In order to protect the health and safety of customers, transporters, and employees, please be aware that we are employing strict social distancing protocols at our sites, and the number of vehicles allowed in the yard is limited in full compliance with local government regulations. If you are a buyer and are picking up equipment from one of our sites:

  • We are not accepting cash payments at this time. Please use electronic fund transfer such as credit card or wire transfer (instructions are on your invoice)
  • Please phone ahead to schedule your pick-up
  • Please stay in your vehicle upon arrival
  • Have your buyer number and lot numbers available
  • Free storage of purchased assets where transportation is affected by restrictions, in our USA locations
  • Free storage of items purchased by US or International buyers where transportation is affected by restrictions, in our Canadian location
