Heavy equipment prices up 4% year over year in Canada

In fact, our March 2021 Used Equipment Market Trends summary report shows heavy equipment used in the construction sector is up four percent in Canada and five percent in the U.S., compared to the same time period last year. The March 2021 report, which is available for download now highlights equipment categories that performed particularly well last, including excavators, crawler tractors, and multi-terrain loaders.

Excavators sales in Canada in 2020 – similar volumes with an uptick in pricing
While we sold a similar number of units between 2020 and 2019, median quarterly pricing for excavators in Canada was stronger in Q2 through Q4 (April – Dec) 2020.
Early 2021 highlights include a 2018 John Deere 380G LC hydraulic excavator that sold for CA$315,000; a 2015 Caterpillar 390FL VG hydraulic excavator that sold for CA$277,500; and a 2020 John Deere 210G LC hydraulic excavator that sold for CA$245,000.
Crawler tractor sales in Canada in 2020 – more units with an uptick in pricing
We sold more crawler tractor units in Canada in 2020 vs. 2019 and achieved stronger median quarterly pricing in Q2 and Q4 2020.
Early 2021 highlights include a 2014 Komatsu D155AX-7 crawler tractor that sold for CA$300,000; a 2007 Caterpillar D8T that sold for CA$200,000; and a 2016 John Deere 750K LGP that sold for CA$165,000.
Multi terrain loader sales in Canada in 2020 – less volume & stronger prices
We sold less multi-terrain loaders in Canada in 2020 vs. 2019, but achieved stronger pricing.
Early 2021 highlights include a 2015 Kubota SVL90-2 multi-terrain loader that sold for CA$42,500, a 2015 Caterpillar 257D two-speed that sold for CA$41,000; and a John Deere 323D that sold for CA$37,000.
