Ritchie Bros. acquires Mascus in February 2016

A leading global online equipment listing service

Established in 2001, Mascus is a leading global online equipment listing service with operations in 58 countries and 3.2 million website visits monthly. Today they provide online advertising services, business tools and solutions to many of the world’s leading equipment dealerships and equipment manufacturers.

Ritchie Bros. acquired Mascus in early 2016, expanding the breadth of equipment disposition and management solutions we can offer our customers. Our mission: to help you buy and sell equipment when you want, where you want and how you want.

"As one of the world's leading equipment listing services, Mascus has carved out a well-established and loyal customer base,” said Ravi Saligram, CEO of Ritchie Bros., following the acquisition. “Combining Ritchie Bros.' current capabilities with Mascus' solutions will enhance the end-to-end services that we can provide."

Mascus: how it works

Mascus online listing service attracts 3.2 million visits monthly

Mascus’ online listing service regularly features more than 360,000 items for sale from OEMs, dealers and end-users. Sellers can pay to advertise a single item for sale on an as-needed basis or pay a monthly fee to Mascus for a number of listings.

Mascus also offers an in-house asset management system to help large companies keep track of inventory and list on Mascus with one click.

Buyers looking to purchase equipment search the inventory online and contact the seller to complete the sale offline. Buyers can also place want ads if they are searching for a specific item but don’t see it on the website.

Buy & sell equipment when you want, where you want, how you want

At Ritchie Bros. our goal is to provide a range of business solutions to meet all your equipment management and disposition needs.

Buy and sell equipment

Our live unreserved auctions, which we have been conducting since 1958, give sellers the comfort of certain sale and payment dates, so they can plan their businesses. At the same time, buyers feel confident knowing there are no minimum bids or reserve prices—they will be the new owner if they place the highest bid.

For customers that want more control over the selling price of their assets, we have our online auction marketplace EquipmentOne, which was launched in 2013. With EquipmentOne you can buy and sell online, at any time, from anywhere. This platform enables our customers to sell immediately, to sell without moving their items, and to place a reserve price on an item (if they wish).

Mascus online listing service

Now, with Mascus in the fold, there is a listing service available to customers under the trustworthy Ritchie Bros. name.

"We look forward to working within the broader Ritchie Bros. team, and leveraging their global used equipment sales expertise to further build our customer relationships and platform," said Tim Scholte, CEO of Mascus. "Mascus will continue to build on its strong business model of online equipment listing services focusing on the needs of all advertisers."
