Is Ritchie Bros. rolling with the truck industry for a great cause? 10-4.

Ritchie Bros. joins fight against human trafficking.

Ritchie Bros. is hitching its trailer to a very important cause happening in the southwestern United States. We’re joining Inland Kenworth – one of the largest Kenworth truck dealers in North America – and advocacy group Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT) to help prevent human trafficking.

Inland Kenworth has created a special T680 truck tractor dubbed the “Everyday Heroes” edition. This customized T680, featuring a distinctive paint scheme and signage, will be sold at our Phoenix auction on June 20 to the highest bidder, with all proceeds going to TAT and its ongoing efforts to educate the industry on human trafficking prevention.

The Backstory

Kenworth Everyday Heroes truck to be auctioned for Truckers Against Trafficking

The journey of the “Everyday Heroes” truck began with Don Blake, an Inland Kenworth new truck sales manager in the Phoenix area. Don Blake witnessed a presentation by TAT in 2015 and was moved to join the fight. According to TAT, there are 20.9 million victims of human trafficking in the world today.

“I had to wipe the tears from my eyes after learning the horrors that TAT rescues people from today,” Blake told truckinginfo.com. “I knew right then that I wanted to help our industry combat human trafficking.”

Blake later approached Ritchie Bros. with the idea of selling the “Everyday Heroes” truck at one of our auctions to help raise proceeds for TAT.

“As active members of the Arizona trucking community, Ritchie Bros. did not hesitate to get involved in this incredibly important cause,” said Don Nash, Ritchie Bros. Territory Manager in Phoenix. “When Don Blake came to us with the idea, we jumped at the chance to do our part. We believe that with our global network of buyers we can get the best return for the Kenworth T680 and in turn help Truckers Against Trafficking. Ritchie Bros. is proud to support the prevention of human trafficking.”

The ‘Everyday Heroes’ Tour

The Kenworth T680 made its first public appearance at ATA’s Technology and Maintenance Council Convention in Nashville (February 27-March 2) before being displayed at our Las Vegas auction (March 9-10). From there it’s headed to its final destination, Phoenix, where it will be displayed one more time at the April 13 auction and then sold at the June 20 auction.

The truck has a retail value of US$157,000 and features a 76-inch sleeper, 485 horsepower Paccar MX-13 engine and Eaton Fuller Advantage 10-speed automated transmission. The sale proceeds will go to TAT’s efforts to educate, mobilize, and empower truckers and truck stop operators about what to look for and how to respond in the face of human trafficking.

If you’re interested in bidding online for the “Everyday Heroes” Kenworth T680 truck, you will need a free Ritchie Bros. account, then you can register online and bid during the June 20 Phoenix auction.
