Trucking jobs up slightly as U.S. employment surges

According to the latest jobs report from the U.S. Department of Labor, trucking jobs increased slightly in October. Read more about U.S. trucking employment at Fleet Owner.

B.C. facing trucking, other labor shortages in future

Meanwhile, up north in British Columbia, Canada, a new labor market forecast is saying that there will be challenges ahead in the next five to 10 years for certain jobs, including an expected shortage in truck drivers. Read more about British Columbian trucking employment at Today’s Trucking.

Study determines more must be done to curb Canada’s GHG emissions from transportation

While Canada’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions have been reduced thanks to certain technologies and initiatives, the increase in people and business has meant more vehicles on the road.

Trucking business conditions fall slightly in U.S.

North American Class 8 truck orders increased in October.

Heavy-truck orders unexpectedly down, medium-duty strong

New Class 8 truck orders in North America increased during October, hitting the highest level since February. However, when compared to the same time last year, they were significantly down. Read more about North American Class 8 orders at Today’s Trucking.

U.S. government passes $325 billion, 6-year transportation bill

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a new highway bill that will send US$261 billion to highways, US$55 billion to transit programs, and another US$9 billion to safety programs. Read more about the new U.S. transportation bill at Equipment World.
