On Friday, May 22, 2009, Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers will be selling a Herrenknecht S-234 Single Shield Hard Rock Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) in an unreserved public auction in Los Angeles.

The TBM will be sold on Friday, May 22, 2009 (Day Three) along with other mining and tunneling equipment.

Pre-sale Inspection:

The TBM is currently located in the auction yard. Interested buyers can preview the TBM in the yard prior to auction day by visiting the auction site or by calling +1.951.940.9441. The yard is open five days a week from Monday to Friday during regular business hours. The auction site will also be open the weekend before the auction (May 16-17) for preview, inspection and bidder registration.

Auction Process:

Bidding on the TBM is open to all members of the general public. No special deposit or pre-qualifications are needed in advance of bidding. The TBM, including cutterhead, shield and trailing gear, will be sold as one item to the highest bidder on auction day. There are no minimum bids or reserve prices.

Interested buyers can register at the site on or prior to auction day. If interested in bidding online, register online before auction day at www.rbauction.com. First-time internet bidders should register at least 2 – 3 business days in advance.

How to Bid:

Two ways to bid at the auction:

  1. Attend the auction in person.
  2. Bid online using the rbauctionBid-Live service. You'll be able to bid in real time over the Internet, while you are watching the live auction take place on your computer. When bidding online, refundable deposits need to be paid ahead of time. Please register at least two days in advance to bid live and online from your home or office

Equipment Removal:

The removal and relocation of the TBM from the Los Angeles auction yard is the sole responsibility of the buyer. Equipment must be paid within seven days of the end of the auction and the equipment must be removed within 60 days of the purchase date or storage fees may apply. Talk to Ritchie Bros.
