TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF BIDDING ONLINE
We do everything possible to maintain the security and the fairness of our auctions. Please take note of the general terms and conditions of online bidding listed below.
- Before bidding online at a Ritchie Bros. auction, you must read and accept the Terms and Conditions of bidding. Read these terms carefully (summarized below). When you click “accept,” you enter into a binding legal agreement with Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers.
- All bids submitted using the Ritchie Bros. online bidding service are final and irrevocable. When you click the bid button, you are submitting a binding bid in the amount displayed on the bid button. If you are the highest bidder and the auctioneer announces the lot as sold to you, you are the new owner of that item. All sales are final.
- The terms of bidding are governed by the jurisdiction in which the auction takes place.
- Ritchie Bros. sells each and every item “as is, where is.” We make no guarantees or warranties with respect to the items in our auctions. We recommend that you read the full details about each item on our web site and visit the auction site to inspect any items you’d like to buy before bidding on auction day. You may also send someone to the site to conduct the inspection on your behalf.
- Ritchie Bros. expressly forbids owners and their agents from bidding on any item they have consigned to an auction. This applies to on-site, online and proxy bidding.
- Every item becomes the responsibility of the new owner as soon as the auctioneer announces that an item has been sold. If you are the highest bidder, you are responsible for insuring your purchase immediately.
- A 2% internet purchase fee, up to a maximum of 500 per lot (in the currency of the auction), will be charged on every lot purchased using Ritchie Bros.' online bidding service.
- An 10% administrative fee is charged on every lot selling for 2,500 or less (in the currency of the auction). The administrative fee is applied separately from the internet purchase fee.
- Our terms of payment are as follows:
- Lots selling for under 10,000 (in the currency of the auction) must be paid for in full on auction day;
- Lots selling for 10,000 or more (in the currency of the auction) must be paid for in full within seven (7) days, with a deposit of 10,000 or 25% of the purchase price (whichever is greater) due on auction day.
- 10. Buyers cannot take possession of or remove their purchases from the auction site until the total purchase price (including applicable taxes or fees) has been paid in full. Purchases must be removed from the site by the time specified in the auction details.
- 11. If Ritchie Bros. cannot make available or deliver clear title on a purchase, the buyer is entitled to a full refund of the purchase price.
- 12. The security of the Ritchie Bros. online bidding service depends on secrecy of your confidential Express Bidder Personal Identification Number (PIN). Treat your Express Bidder number and PIN the way you treat your banking password or PIN: do not disclose or write down this information. If someone bids online using your Express Bidder number and PIN, you are liable for any purchases they make. If you've forgotten your PIN or would like to get a new one, contact Ritchie Bros. customer service.
- When you register to bid online, make sure you provide a contact telephone number where we can reach you during the auction. If you are not available at that number, Ritchie Bros. reserves the right to suspend your online bidding access until such time that you can be reached.
- The terms listed above do not constitute the full terms and conditions of bidding online. Read the full terms when you register to bid online at an auction.
Online Bidding Software
We’ve made some enhancements to our online bidding service.
Please note: you must install the new 2009 online bidding software in order to bid or view an auction online. Please install the software well in advance of the auction to avoid any technical issues. Previous versions of the rbauctionBid-Live online bidding software must be replaced.
