How to Bid Online - Step 8

8. To initiate the bidding on each lot, the auctioneer gives an initial “ask price.” If no one wants to bid at that price, he reduces the ask price until someone makes an initial bid (the “bid price”). You will see the current bid and ask prices on your computer screen. The ask price is displayed on your bid button. These numbers are updated in real time, so you can follow the auction as closely as someone bidding on-site.
