Tips on Bidding
1.

Activate your bid button

2. Wait for an opening bid
3. Bidding while the prices are changing fast
4. Watch the number in your bid button
5. You can't bid when you're the high bidder
6. Choice and Privilege
7. Review your Purchases

1.

Activate your bid button: Your bid button is not activated until you select a lot from the Lot Selection Area. Once you select a lot, your bid button is activated. You're now ready to place a bid.

2.

Wait for an opening bid: When you hear the auctioneer ask for an opening bid, your bid button will display the current asking price. You may either place a bid at this amount or wait for the asking price to change.

3.

Bidding while the prices are changing fast: The pace of a Ritchie Bros. auction is quite fast and the asking price can change rapidly. Your bid may or may not be accepted as many other bidders (both in person and Internet bidders) may be placing a bid at the same time. Regardless, place your bids early and quickly so that we know you're interested in the lot.

4.

Watch the number in your bid button: When bidding, it's extremely important to focus on the number displayed in your bid button. When you click the bid button, the amount displayed in the bid button is the amount of your bid regardless of what you heard the auctioneer saying. If you find the audio is distracting when you're bidding, you may want to turn your audio volume to a lower level when placing your bids.

5.

You can't bid when you're the high bidder: Remember, the computer knows when you're the high bidder and deactivates your bid button to prevent you from bidding against yourself. When you see the message "BID ACCEPTED - YOU'RE ON", just relax - there's nothing for you to do until another bidder places a higher bid. If this happens, you'll see the message "OUTBID - BID AGAIN NOW" and you can then place another bid.

6.

Choice and Privilege: You may only select 1 lot in a Choice and Privilege Group until you are the winning bidder. Once you are the winning bidder the auctioneer will ask you if you want to purchase any of the remaining lots at the current sold price. If you do want to purchase additional lots you may select ANY and AS MANY of the available lots from the Choice and Privilege Group and click the Bid Button. REMEMBER - ACT QUICKLY as the auctioneer will move on if you do not bid in a timely manner.

7.

Review your Purchases: You can review your purchases online, anytime, by clicking the View Purchases button at the top of your bidder's screen.
