To place a proxy bid, contact the auction site conducting the sale by phone.
Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers provides a service to customers who are unable to attend an auction but wish to purchase one or more items in a specific sale. This service, often referred to as 'absentee bidding', is known as proxy bidding.
When you place a proxy bid, Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers bids on your behalf up to the maximum amount specified by you.
The
bidding is not started with your bid unless a higher proxy
bid has been received from another bidder. Once the bidding
has been established by the crowd, your bid will be entered
at the next increment being asked for by the auctioneer.
As long as bids are coming from the crowd, we continue to
bid on your behalf until either the bidding from the crowd
has exceeded your maximum bid, or you are the successful
high bidder.
Bids
by proxy must be for a minimum of $10,000 and must be submitted
sufficiently in advance of the sale in order to be processed.
A deposit of 25% of the amount being bid must be received
by Ritchie Bros. before the bid is accepted. Although you
can place a bid by proxy on sale day, you are strongly advised
to allow a minimum of 2 days for a bid deposit to be received
and confirmed.
All
wire transfer fees incurred by you to send your deposit
to Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers are at your own expense.
If
you are not a successful bidder, your deposit will be refunded
in the same currency in which it was received by Ritchie
Bros. Auctioneers, less wire transfer fees. No currency
exchange fees or interest will be paid to you by Ritchie
Bros. Auctioneers.
If
you are a successful bidder, your deposit will be applied
to your purchases, and if necessary, your deposit will be
converted to the currency of the auction at the noon day
rate on the day immediately following the conclusion of
the auction sale.
All
proxy bidders will be contacted after the sale and advised
of the selling price. If
you were successful you will be informed of the balance
owing and asked how payment and shipping of the unit will
be handled. If your bid is not successful your deposit will
be promptly returned to you.
All proxy bids are governed by the Terms and Conditions outlined on the rbauctionBid confirmation page.
Any
qualified customer can place a bid by proxy by contacting
the sale site.
