What
is proxy bidding? |
|
Proxy
bidding, also known as 'absentee bidding', is a service
for customers who are unable to attend an auction
but wish to purchase one or more items in a specific
sale. Proxy bids are maximum bids placed in advance
of the auction; when you place a bid by proxy, Ritchie
Bros. Auctioneers bids on your behalf up to the maximum
amount specified by you.

How
can I place a proxy bid? |
|
There
are two ways to submit bids by proxy to a Ritchie
Bros. auction - by filling out and faxing a proxy
bidding form (available by request from any auction
site), or on the Ritchie Bros. web site, with the
rbauctionBid-Proxy service. Any qualified customer
can place a bid by proxy by contacting the sale site.
If you are an Express Bidder card holder you can place
bids using the rbauctionBid-Proxy service. We encourage
our customers to become Express Bidders - there is
no charge for the service.

Is
there a charge for placing a Proxy Bid? |
| |
Effective January 1, 2003, each Lot purchased by a
Proxy Bid will be subject to a Proxy Purchase Fee
of 2% of the purchase price to a maximum of $500 per
Lot. For auctions conducted in other than U.S. dollars,
the maximum amount is 500 per Lot in the currency
