1. Do I bid based on listening to the auctioneer on my computer speakers?

No. The key to bidding on the Internet is to bid based on the value displayed in your bid button. While the audio is helpful and generally synchronized with your bid button, it's important to focus on the value displayed in your bid button, as this is the amount that is submitted to the auctioneer. For example, if you click on the bid button when it reads $10,000, you are submitting a bid for $10,000, regardless of what you hear the auctioneer say.

2. How do I know if my bid has been submitted to the auctioneer?

When you click on your bid button to submit a bid to the auctioneer, you will see the message "BID SUBMITTED - $XX,XXX" above your bid button. This message confirms that you have submitted your bid as well as confirming the amount of your bid. If you don't see this message, your bid did not get to the auctioneer in time; you can bid again if you want to.

3. I don't seem to be able to get my bid accepted in the early stages of the bidding. Why not?

In the early stages of the auction of a lot, the asking price can change very rapidly. When you click on your bid button, it's possible that many other bidders (both in-person and on the Internet) were also placing bids, and of course only one bid at any amount can be accepted. Don't worry, you should
have plenty of time to get your bid in as the auctioneer begins to slow down prior to selling the lot.

4. How do I know when my bid has been accepted by the auctioneer?

When your bid has been accepted by the auctioneer, the message "BID ACCEPTED - YOU'RE ON" will appear above your bid button. When this message is displayed, you are the high bidder, and your bid button will be disabled to prevent you from raising your own bid. If you do not see this message, then your bid has not been accepted. You can bid again if you want to.

5. Why can't I propose a different bid amount to the auctioneer?

The Internet bidding system has been designed to make it both simple and convenient for you to place your bids. Allowing you to propose a bid to the auctioneer in an amount other than the amount being asked for by the auctioneer would complicate the system and slow down the auction process.

6. Am I protected against raising my bid if I'm the high bidder?

Yes. The rbauctionBid-Live software recognizes when you are the current high bidder and automatically disables your bid button to prevent you from raising your own high bid. If you get outbid by another bidder, your bid button will be automatically reactivated.

7. May I withdraw a bid after I've submitted it?

No. All bids submitted using the rbauctionBid-Live service are final and irrevocable. When you click the bid button you are submitting a binding bid in the amount displayed in the bid button to the auctioneer. If you are the high bidder and the auctioneer sells the lot to you, you are the new owner of the lot. So, if you do not intend to buy the item, do not click your bid button.

8. Why do I have to first select a lot in order to activate my bid button?

This is done to protect you against accidental bidding.

In case of Choice and Privilege group, your selection will serve as a notice to the auctioneer, in the event that you are the high bidder, as to which lot you are buying. Please note: If you are the high bidder on a Choice and Privilege group, the auctioneer will sell you the lot you preselected and he will give you a short opportunity to buy any or all of the additional lots remaining in the Choice and Privilege Group at the CURRENT SOLD PRICE. In a choice and privilege group you may only preselect one lot and then if you are the winning bidder you may then select multiple lots to purchase at the CURRENT SOLD PRICE when the auctioneer offers you that opportunity.

9. What happens if I accidentally click my bid button?

The rbauctionBid-Live software has been designed to prevent accidental clicking of the bid button. To protect you from accidental bids, your bid button is not activated until you select a lot by checking it in the lot selection area. When you activate your bid button, you are signaling your intention to bid. If you activate your bid button and then click your bid button, you are submitting an irrevocable bid.

10. Why are my lot choice selections cleared each time an item is sold?

Whenever a lot or lots are sold in a Choice and Privilege group, you will notice that the lot you preselected prior to bidding is automatically deselected (unchecked). This is a safety feature to ensure that you recognize that the lot you were bidding on may no longer be available.

11. Can I change my lot selection choices in a Choice and Privilege group?

When bidding starts on a new lot, you can change your lot selection as many times as you wish prior to clicking your bid button for the first time. Once you click the bid button, the lot selected becomes "locked-in" and then cannot be altered. If you are the winning bidder, you are now the owner of the lot you had selected. When given the opportunity by the auctioneer once you are the winning bidder you may select any or all of the remaining lots in the choice group but again once you click your bid button any lot(s) selected will become "locked-in" and cannot be altered.

12. Can I buy additional lots in a Choice and Privilege group if I'm the winning bidder?

Yes. If the auctioneer announces you are the winning bidder in a Choice and Privilege group, you will be given a short period of time to buy additional lots at the same price. You will hear the auctioneer ask you on your computer speakers. Act quickly, as the auctioneer will move on to another bidder if you do not respond. To purchase additional lots, you must first select them from the lot selection list and then click your bid button.

13. Sometimes I see the message "BID ACCEPTED - YOU'RE ON" immediately followed by the bid status message "TOO LATE - BID AGAIN NOW". Why does this happen?

In some cases, your bid and a bid from an in-person bidder at the auction site are presented to auctioneer at very nearly the same instance. If the auctioneer recognizes the bid from the in-person bidder first, the computer system may momentarily acknowledge you as the high bidder, but it will quickly correct itself by recognizing the in-person bidder as the high bidder. If this occurs, you get the message "TOO LATE - BID AGAIN NOW" and you then have to submit a new bid.

14. What does the message "BIDDING LIMIT EXCEEDED" mean?

Once the amount displayed in your Bid button plus the amount of purchases you have made exceeds your bidding limit, your bid button is disabled and your bid status indicater will display "Bidding Limit Exceeded". Once the "Bidding Limit Exceeded" message displays, you will not be able to place any more bids until you change your Bidding Limit. See "How do I change my bidding limit?" for more details.

Keep an eye on your purchases total in the upper-right corner of your screen. When the "Remaining" field turns red (meaning you purchases total is within 85% of your Bid Limit), you may want to increase your Bidding Limit. See "How do I change my bidding limit?" for more details.

15. Can I submit a proxy (absentee) bid for a lot and also bid on the lot using the rbauctionBid-Live service?

You can, but we advise that you exercise caution if you elect to do this. We advise that you do not start to bid using the rbauctionBid-Live software until the price the auctioneer is calling is at least two bid increments above the maximum price you specified on your Proxy (absentee) bid. If you bid earlier than this, you run the risk of bidding against yourself (because Proxy bids are managed separately from the live bidding system) and you may end up bidding more than you actually needed to in order to be the winning bidder.

16. What happens if I lose my Internet connection while I'm bidding?

As with all technology, the Internet is not 100% reliable. From time to time, you may experience Internet disconnects while you're logged into the auction. If this happens, reestablish your connection as quickly as possible, and re-launch the rbauctionBid-Live software from the rbauctionBid-Live web section.

If you were actively bidding when you were disconnected and you were the high bidder at that point, the lot will still be sold to you if you're still the high bidder when the auctioneer sells the lot. When you reestablish your connection and rejoin the auction, click the "View Purchases" button to find out if the lot was sold to you.

17. What if I want to bid in two (or more) auctions that are on the same day?

No problem. You can register for multiple events, even if they're scheduled to be conducted at the same time on the same day.

However, on auction day, you'll only be able to participate in one auction ring at a time. You can easily switch between auctions or different auction rings that you're participating in but the live bidding software will only open one auction ring at a time.

If you have two (or more) computers connected to the Internet with the live bidding software, you can have each logged in to participate in different auctions or auction rings simultaneously.
