For Windows 98/2000/ME/XP

In order to view or bid over the Internet in a Ritchie Bros. auction, you need to complete both of the following steps:

  1. Right-click ' Download rbauctionBid-Live software' and save the file directly to your computer by selecting the 'Save Target As...' option. This could take several minutes at dial-up connection speeds. When the download has completed, locate the file (where you saved it on your computer) and double-click it to begin the installation procedure. Follow the prompts presented to complete the installation process.
  2. Step 2 Get latest software updates

You're now ready to watch live auction broadcasts or bid live in real-time with rbauctionBid-Live.

If an auction is on now, return to the rbauction.com home page and click on the flashing icon beside the auction on the auction calendar. Otherwise, return to rbauction.com on auction day to join the live auction.

If your update window freezes in Step 2 as follows:

You are likely behind a firewall, which is preventing you from downloading the updates.

For Windows Vista

Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers is working hard to make the installation process on Windows Vista an easy one, but at the present time, it must be done manually; please follow the steps described below.

To begin, click on this link to Download rbauctionBid-Live Software.  This will begin the following procedure:

  1. Use to begin the install process.
  2. Click the Run button twice (it will come up again), and when Windows Vista says “An unidentified program wants to access your computer”, click Allow.  Then follow the prompts until the Auction Client is installed.
  3. Next, go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, then Windows Explorer.
  4. In the top bar, type “C:\Program Files\Auction Client” and hit enter; the screen should look like this:
  5. Right-click on RingStart.exe, select Properties, and click the Compatibility tab.  Then, near the bottom, click “Run this program as an administrator” checkbox.  Once you have, it will look like this:
  6. Click OK, and then close Windows Explorer.
  7. Next, go to the Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers web site and attempt to attend the auction or download the latest software updates to bring up the mock interface.
  8. Windows will tell you that a web site wants to open web content (see below); click the Allow button:
  9. Windows will then tell you that an unidentified program wants to access your computer; click Allow.
  10. A screen will appear that will download updates rbauctionBid-Live, as in the below picture:
  11. Once the updates have been downloaded, the auction client screen will appear.
  12. At this point, the rbauctionBid-Live client has been completely installed.
