Stricly unreserved auctions Auctions are open to the public Convenient and easy bidding options Buying made easy! Inspect, test and compare equipment before you buy

Every year, we register hundreds of thousands of bidders at our unreserved auctions – because at Ritchie Bros., we do auctions right:

Strictly unreserved auctions: no minimum bids or reserve prices

Every Ritchie Bros. auction is unreserved, meaning there are no minimum bids and no reserve prices. Every item is sold to the highest bidder on auction day, regardless of price.

Open to the public, with free registration

Anyone can register to bid at our auctions. It’s free – you just need to present government-issued photo identification when you register.

Bidders set the prices, not sellers

At Ritchie Bros. we forbid owners to bid on their own items. You can bid with confidence knowing that there is no artificial price manipulation and that every item will be sold to a new owner on auction day. When you buy at our auctions you know that you are paying fair market value – not a price set by the seller or a middleman.

Huge selection of trucks and equipment

We sell more used equipment than any other company in the world and all of our auctions feature a wide variety of equipment for a wide range of industries. Some people describe our auctions as “equipment supermarkets.” We sell hundreds of thousands of items each year, so you can find exactly what you’re looking for.

Ability to inspect, test and compare equipment

We post photos and details of the equipment we sell on our web site. Equipment is also displayed in an organized manner at our secure auction sites before every auction. We sell every item “as is, where is” and encourage our customers to inspect, test and compare the equipment before they bid, or have a mechanic do it for them. That way you can bid with certainty on auction day.

Clear title – or your money back

Our dedicated search department identifies and arranges for the release of any liens or encumbrances on the equipment we sell – which means you can bid with confidence, knowing that the equipment you buy can be put straight to work. If we can’t deliver clear title, we offer the buyer a full refund of the purchase price.

Convenient bidding options

Most of our customers like to bid in person at our auction sites. They like seeing the equipment move over the ramp as they bid, they like getting together with other people in their industry and they enjoy the atmosphere. If you can’t bid in person on auction day, you can either bid in real time over the internet or place a proxy bid by phone.

Clear and consistent processes

We conduct auctions ranging in size from small, single-seller farm auctions to multi-day, multi-million dollar industrial auctions at our permanent auction sites. Wherever the auction is conducted, and whatever its size, you count on consistent inspection, registration, and bidding processes.

Value-added services

We invite finance companies, transportation service providers, customs brokers and caterers to our auctions to ensure that the process of bidding and buying at our auctions is as convenient and comfortable as possible.
